The Apollo Academies Trust is a brand new, vibrant and dynamic trust. We are a very forward thinking organisation that provides the latest innovations in education. We can open doorways to learning opportunities on a local, national and global level. Our trust is operated in Norfolk and our founding school is in King’s Lynn. We have been set up as a primary level driven trust so our key expertise is in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Each school has its own unique personality and we work with that. Every trust school has its own community values, ethos and a unique feel. That is why as a trust we tailor our approaches to meet an individual school community. Our schools really value our approaches, support and guidance.

Wildlife buff Chris Packham praises Norfolk youngsters for planting more than 100 trees

Tree Planting

Nearly 60 children from Year 4 at Howard Junior School, in King’s Lynn, planted 105 native British trees on their school field.

They worked with artist and school grounds professional Nicola Marray-Woods to plant the free trees they had received from the Woodland Trust.

Ms Marray-Woods said: “By working as a team we have created a new woodland which will link the school’s outdoor classroom with the mature woodland at the back of the field.

“The children carefully considered all the packs on offer from the Woodland Trust and chose the wildlife option of hazel, oak, hawthorn, rowan, blackthorn and silver birch.

“It will provide habitats and food for a range of animals in years to come.”

After posting the project on Twitter the school was delighted to receive a retweet and reply from TV naturalist Chris Packham who commented “top work all!”

Not to be outdone Year 3 children spent some sunny afternoons making and planting hundreds of seedballs. These tiny spheres of wildflower seed, compost, clay and chilli powder will kick-start a new meadow next to the wood.
