The magic of books
Although most pupils were still learning at home, there were still fun and games and costumes galore for the special day, held last Thursday.
Howard Junior School in Gaywood organised a host of reading-themed activities in school and online throughout the day, with both children and teachers getting into character.
Youngsters learning at home also got involved, sending in pictures and videos, and even their pets were encouraged to take part.
Children in Year Six, aged 10 and 11, enjoyed a Harry Potter-themed potion class with Professor Snape, designing their own magic potions.
There was also How to Train Your Dragon fun, with Year Four teacher Jack Curl dressing up as Hiccup the Viking from the series of children’s books.
Author Cressida Cowell even replied to Howard on Twitter, wishing everyone a happy World Book Day.
The school thanked pupils, staff and parents for their support and the fantastic costumes.
“A love of reading is so important,” a spokesman said.
